Who are we?
Call us trainers, consultants, instructors, coaches, behavior analysts, problem-solvers… All of these would be fitting terms to describe the roles that we fill here at Parent Training Solutions; yet, first and foremost, we are parents. Like all parents, we have had our moments where we watched our children behaving badly and thought, “What should I do in this situation?” However, we are fortunate that we can answer this question by applying our knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). As parents AND Board Certified Behavior Analysts, we apply ABA to address our children’s problematic behavior when it occurs and to bring out the best in our children. We use what we know about positive reinforcement to promote our children’s following directions, to teach them to effective and socially appropriate ways to express themselves, and to be more independent in daily activities. We also use what we know about ethical and effective use of punishment to address problem behaviors like being too rough with their canine and feline siblings, throwing toys, and hitting.
Applied Behavior Analysis works to change behavior. We know this both professionally and personally. This is the reason why we started Parent Training Solutions to teach other parents, caretakers, and teachers strategies rooted in the science of behavior known as ABA.
